6 reasons people spread rumours about you
Have you ever been in that situation where people said false and untrue things about you, and made others to believe them? You probably must have been in that situation where people claim you said something which you didn’t say.
It’s normal for people to spread fake and untrue news about celebrities and popular figures — to sell their stories. But how about you that isn’t a public figure? Why do people carry rumours about you in your neighbourhood, your workplace and other places you find yourself?
1. TO GAIN ATTENTION
A lot of the time, people who carry rumours just love to create buzz and attention. So they cook up a fake story and tell a person or two, just to gain attention. And you could just be the victim of their ploy.
2. TO FEEL BETTER ABOUT THEMSELVES
Some people are sadists; in the sense that they just love to see people become sad like them. It makes them feel better when they bring people down, and kill the joy of others.
3. IT’S JUST WHO THEY ARE
I’ve seen people who are actually like this; they just love to spread rumours. They just love to lie and say untrue things; it’s a bad habit they have formed from childhood and they have fun in causing other people to frown.
4. TO KILL YOUR CONFIDENCE
People carry rumours about you just to lower your self-esteem and boost theirs; they just don’t want to see you being confident and having belief in yourself.
5. TO TARNISH YOUR REPUTATION
Jealousy, envy and greed could also make a person say false things about you, just to tarnish your image.
6. TO BE AN OBSTACLE
In an office setting, people could also say false things about you just to bring you down; they’d want to be an obstacle to your progress, so they form lies and things that don’t exist to bring you down.
A lot of people have been sacked and lost their positions just because of people who carry rumours.
Don’t let false things people say about you bring you down.
