Marumbo’s ‘Poetry in Africa’ Lilongwe screening on Saturday

Poet Marumbo Sichinga will screen his ‘Poetry in Africa’ at 1Five Entertainment on Saturday, December 3 in Lilongwe.

The first screening was held at KwaHaramba in Blantyre.

“Poetry in Africa is about identity as Africans. Africans not being told what Africa is and isn’t, what the people are and aren’t, what the poets are and aren’t” Marumbo says.

“And more so especially because Africa is known by God it doesn’t have to be defined by those things” he adds.

Marumbo says he has been writing for over 4 years.

Over the years, he says he has been lucky enough to perform at stages like Lake of Stars, Tumaini festival among other big platforms.

His debut Extended Playlist called ‘Broken Key’s is out and will be on offer at the screening.

“I am excited for the next phase” says the Poet.

Supporting acts at the screening are renowned poets in the country. These include Chisomo ‘Jedidiah’, Yolanda Kaluma, Phindu, Alex and more.

Upcoming RnB artist, IT’S FRIDAY will be guest musical performer at the screening.

Screening starts at 6 pm.
