Match mixing case awaits FAM verdict
The match fixing case against TNM Super League team Nchalo United and 4 referees awaits a decision following the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) disciplinary hearing.
The hearing, which took place in Blantyre heard George Aziz Nyirenda, Stephano Gomani, Limbani Chisambi and Jimmy Phiri accepted a K15000 bribe to allegedly influence a Carlsberg cup match with Chitipa United.
FAM acting competitions manager, Casper Jangale said “What is left now is for the disciplinary committee to make a determination, once that is done, all the relevant parties and the general public will be informed accordingly.”
The accused team, Nchalo United chairperson Peter Chiipanthenga said they made their case based on what they were being asked.
“It is good that the disciplinary hearing finally took place” he said.
