Wanderers sponsors to decide on CAF participation
Be Forward Wanderers is waiting on decision from its sponsors, Japanese car dealers, Be Forward on whether they will participate in the CAF Champions League or not.
Rumours of the club pulling out of the continental competition, which started making rounds on Thursday, are being refuted by officials.
The club has acknowledged there are internal issues that could lead to such a decision by the sponsors.
The club says chief among these are indiscipline. They have not, however, indicated which section of the team lacks descipline.
General Secretary for Wanderers, Mike Butao has disclosed of meetings with the club trustees, executive committee and players, of which resolutions have been forwarded to the Japanese sponsors.
“Be Forward Japan have serious concerns on some disciplinary issues which they want to be sorted out as they may jeopardize CAF participation,” said Butao.
He however added that as it stands Wanderers are still in CAF Champions league.
This comes amid reports that Football Association of Malawi allegedly received a letter of the club’s decision withdrawing from the competition. The document however does not bear the club’s official letterhead.
Football Association of Malawi has not commented.
